Another Alternative View On Russia

So much for the situation on the situation in Ukraine, Crimea and Russia is from a western perspective, which mostly brings us back to the Cold War.

I hold no brief for President Vladimir Putin. Yet, I was pleased to read an alternative view on the situation by Liam Halligan in Sunday’s Daily TelegraphLiam Halligan has worked in Russia, and has years of experience as chief economist for the world’s largest Russia/CIS-focused asset manager. My summary of his article is that patience is needed, that badly damaged diplomatic relations will take a long time to recover, and that sanctions would be deeply counter-productive.
